We have 6 major soundtrack releases this week! None of which are what you would call “holy grail releases,” but some of them might be get your attention.
From La La Land, we are getting limited editions of Nate and Hayes (a.k.a Savage Island) by Trevor Jones and Caddyshack, featuring the music of Kenny Loggins, Journey, and three cues from Johnny Mandel’s score. Nate and Hayes is limited to 3000 units, while Caddyshack is at 3500 copies. Also being released is John Murphy’s score from Armored. Though the label is offering a limited amount of autographed copies, Armored doesn’t appear to be a limited release.
Intrada has released limited edition copies of the complete scores for Hellfighters by Leonard Rosenman and Supernova by David Williams & Burkhard Dallwitz. Disc 1 of Supernova includes the complete original score, while Disc 2 provides the mostly rejected synth score. Ultimately, I think they made the right decision in using David Williams’ music as it is far superior to the rejected score. It also happens to be the only good thing about the film. Hellfighters has 2000 copies. Supernova is limited to 1200.
From Movie Score Media comes David Julyan’s score for The Descent: Part 2. This release doesn’t appear to have a limit either.
