For those who are curious about Oliver Stone’s upcoming Wall Street sequel, here is your first glimpse of Money Never Sleeps!
The trailer opens with Gordon Gekko (Michael Douglas) being released from prison and reclaiming his possessions. Once out, Gekko attempts to regain his wealth and reputation. Shia LeBeouf, stepping into Charlie Sheen’s shoes, plays the ambitious young man who Gekko “mentors.” We also get glimpses of characters played by Josh Brolin and Frank Langella.
For the most part, I like what I see. I’m not really a big fan of the music or how the trailer is edited, but I enjoy all of the scenes involving Gekko, including a couple of humorous moments on his behalf. I’m not entirely sold on LeBeouf. In the past, he’s mainly portrayed dopey characters, who don’t exactly show confidence and fumble around like teenagers on a first date. Not exactly what I call Wall Street material, but I could be wrong.
Money Never Sleeps, which also stars Susan Surandon and Eli Wallach, opens April 23rd.
