I know what you are saying! “Hasn’t there been enough Evil Dead releases?” Certainly, it feels like The Evil Dead and Halloween are trapped in a neverending race to see who has the most home video releases before the world comes to an end. The good news is that this release has a couple of new HD transfers (one for the theatrical 1:85:1 release and the other for “original director’s composed 1:33:1″ cut) , as well as a new commentary.

But here comes some bad news! The commentary is the only new special feature, and the rest are not only recycled from previous DVDs, but are only available a special DVD that comes with the Blu Ray edition for a “limited time.” The features themselves aren’t so bad, but something about the “limited” treatment of these features doesn’t quite make this release feel “definitive.”
