Ghostbusters 3 in 2011?
« on: December 30, 2009, 09:35:58 PM »
ramisHarold Ramis recently spoke with Heeb Magazine about the possibility of Ghostbusters 3. Although a brief mention, he appears confident that the sequel is happening and that it will hit screens in 2011.
Something’s going to happen. Dan [Aykroyd] did write a spec GB3 screenplay a few years ago, but no one was motivated to pursue it. Now, 25 years after the original, there seems to be some willingness to proceed and apparently a substantial public appetite for a sequel. We’ll introduce some new young Ghostbusters, and all the old guys will be in it, too. Think Christopher Lloyd in Back to the Future ... GB3 is progressing with plans to shoot next summer and release in 2011 … Oh, and I have two one-of-a-kind Ghostbuster yarmulkessent by fans.

This is far from an official confirmation, but Ramis was a big part of the Ghostbusters franchise, having co-written both films with Dan Aykroyd. Aykroyd has been talking about doing Ghostbusters 3 for years, but when you have Ramis and Sigourney Weaver talking about doing it, the project seems slightly more validated.

It'll be fun to see another Ghostbuster's movie on the big screen.  I'm not sure if Ramis is the right guy for directing this one.  He has made some good movies but he's also made a few clunkers.  Ivan Reitman hasn't exactly been on a winning streak lately either.  Maybe his son Jason can take a break from his Indie films and do a ghostbusters.

I really wouldn't like that at all.

It's a possibility that Ramis could direct this, but I think Reitman is still the one everyone wants to direct it, even though he doesn't appear to be so sure at this moment.
