The Dark Knight returns to theaters July 20, 2012. Tasked with the job of working out the kinks on Batman 3‘s story are David S. Goyer, Jonathan Nolan, who is expected to take on full screenplay duties, and his brother, Christopher Nolan, who is expected to direct.
Expect plot details and a snazzy new title, along the lines of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, to pop up in the months to come.
One of the hot details that many of us can’t wait to find out is which member of Batman‘s endless rogue gallery will be taking on villain duties for the third installment. Personally, I’m looking forward to seeing a true Riddler realized on the big screen. The Riddler has been severely mishandled in the live action medium, with Jim Carrey’s interpretation mimicking the Frank Gorshin Riddler. He’s often portrayed as somewhat of a copy of The Joker, but his character is actually far more intellectual than campy.
Which bat-villain do you want to see?
