Legendary Pictures has hired their latest Superman screenwriter, Batman Begins scribe David S. Goyer. In light of the Nolan scoop, this isn’t too surprising. Goyer is no stranger to comic book films. He also wrote the screenplays for the entire Blade franchise, The Crow: City of Angels, and a made for television Nick Fury:Agent of Shield film. Goyer also served as the screenwriter on Dark City and helped brainstorm the story for The Dark Knight.
According to Latino Review, the film is expected to be called Man of Steel, a title that was originally coined for Bryan Singer’s now defunct Superman Returns follow up. For those worried about seeing yet another Superman origin story, you will be relieved to know that the filmmakers are aware that everybody and their grandmothers know who Clark Kent is and will not be starting from scratch.
You can’t have a Superman film without Lex Luthor making an appearance and Man of Steel will not be any different, but it appears he won’t be the main antagonist. Looks like we will finally be seeing Brainiac alive and in the flesh!
The article also claims that Brandon Routh will not be returning. Routh made an excellent successor to Christopher Reeve, but I never thought it was likely that he would carry over to the reboot.
