Legendary Pictures might be looking to bring Godzilla back to the States with yet another American adaption of Toho’s popular monster franchise.
Despite being considered a blockbuster, Roland Emmerich’s 1998 adaption was a major disappointment as it was panned by both audiences and critics. The monster itself kept changing sizes and the filmmakers seemed to care more about making fun of Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert than they did about making a decent film.
Since his debut in 1954′s Gojira, Godzilla has gone on to appear in nearly 30 films, as well as two animated series and is considered a pop culture icon. It’s hard to imagine a kid out there who doesn’t know what Godzilla looks like!
No other information on the new film has been released, but let us hope that Legendary stays true to the Japanese franchise and makes both an intense and exciting Godzilla film.
