John Debney is now on board as Iron Man 2′s composer. Debney had previously delivered scores for two other Jon Favreau films, Elf and Zathura, as well as films like Passion of the Christ, Bruce Almighty, and Idlewild. It’s also worth noting that he delivered additional music for both Spiderman sequels.
The previous Iron Man film was composed by Ramin Djawadi, who produced an entertaining but somewhat forgettable score. It was complete with a heavy metal-like sound with some rising cues that almost came close to sounding heroic. So as you might expect, I’m quite excited to see what Debney brings to the franchise. With a great deal of his resume consisting of children’s films and light-hearted comedies, I’m glad to see him getting some more high profile work.
