After much hinting at earlier this year, director Robert Zemeckis, in an interview with MTV for his upcoming release of A Christmas Carol, announced that the screenwriters from the original, Jeffrey Price and Peter Seaman, were working on the script for a sequel to Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
How can you make a sequel to Roger Rabbit? I have a hard time seeing Roger Rabbit get framed again, so clearly the plot would have to be a different style all together, right? Maybe it could involve the differences of eras in cartoons, with the funny antics of the 30′s, 40′s and 50′s era of “toons” classing with the Hannah Barbarah and Nickeloadian/Cartoon Network eras. Or maybe it could be about the 2 Dimensional “toons” being replaced by Pixar’s 3D models.
It’ll probably be 2012 by the time Roger Rabbit 2 gets a release. It’s clearly in the very early stages and Zemeckis also has the Yellow Submarine remake to go through first.
