Well, we’ve all been hearing word of the new Judge Dredd movie right? The script by Alex Garland is supposed to be killer, and Danny Boyle’s DNA films company wants to film it in 3D (try to contain your obvious surprise) and have it in multiplexes within the next couple of years.It is to be directed by Pete Travis – the man behind the modestly successful thriller Vantage Point.

According to Bleeding Cool, rising star Karl Urban’s chin has been offered the lead role. Urban was fantastic as Dr McCoy in JJ Abrams’ utterly ace Star Trek reboot, showing an acting range that not many knew he possessed. So his casting in this sci-fi thriller is inspired and most welcome. He’s a good choice and I for one hope he accepts. Although, isn’t he a bit too handsome to spend an entire movie with his face hidden by a mask?

In any case, anything has to be better than that awful 1995 abortion that starred Sylvester Stallone and (shudder) Rob Schneider.
