Remember the article I posted a few weeks ago? About how Spider-Man 4 was put on indefinite hold? If you’ll remember, it turned out that everybody was going on holiday vacation. While I have no doubt that the crew did break for Christmas and New Years, it actually looks like Spider-man 4 is, in deed, in trouble. Once again, reports are coming in from everywhere that “Spider-Man 4 has been put on hold!”
The latest word is that Sam Raimi hates the script. As reported in the previous article, Raimi wants the Vulture to appear as the villain, while the studio is campaigning for the Black Cat. While it seems likely that this could be the case, it could simply be that Raimi was unhappy with the latest draft because it was either not up to par or just more of the same. Maybe it concluded with yet another action sequence involving Mary Jane getting kidnapped and being dangled in the air?
Personally, neither the Black Cat nor the Vulture excite me. I know a lot of people have been wanting to see the Black Cat for years, but I don’t want to see any more Mary Jane-related melodrama, which her storyline could easily provoke. It could also mean that the film would have to set up yet another origin story when there is already a potential villain that has been introduced in the previous films: Dr. Conners (The Lizard). Once again, why not utilize that character?
