The starting date on the upcoming remake of the 1982 classic Poltergeist has been pushed back and won’t start until early 2010. In consequence, the release date (originally November 24th, 2010) has been pushed back to sometime in 2011.
No reason has been given at this time, but the delay on the release date makes sense. Poltergeist was heavy on visual effects and it would be logical to assume that the remake would follow in its footsteps. I’d rather have the film delayed then end up with a rushed hack job. In my personal opinion, films get rushed too much and the quality is often put on the line.
For those who don’t know already, I’m a big fan of the original Poltergeist. It’s one of my favorite films of all time. So one might think that I’d might be hard knuckles against this remake, but personally I’m interested in seeing in it happen. It’s not going to take the original away from me. Nothing will. If it can survive Poltergeist III it can survive anything!
