Mark your calendars for November 24, 2010 because the Poltergeist remake finally has a release date!
Poltergeist will be directed by Vadim Perelman (The House of Sand and Fog). Serving as screenwriters are Stiles White and Juliet Snowden, who have previously worked on Knowing, Boogeyman, and are currently working on The Birds remake for Platinum Dunes.
While a production start date has yet to be announced, it is safe to say that Poltergeist probably won’t start shooting until sometime in early 2010. They still have quite a bit of pre-production left and haven’t even announced casting yet.
After all these years, the original 1982 film still holds up as one of the most unique haunted house films in American cinema. It spawned two lifeless sequels and an irrelevant television series. Let us hope that they chose to ignore the Reverend Kane backstory provided by the sequels and keep “The Beast” as a mysterious entity!
