Those who expressed concern over whether or not Ivan Reitman was going to return for the next film can now rejoice. The original Ghostbusters director has now confirmed that he expects to direct the upcoming third film!
Reitman was all business again when the talk turned back to the schedule. “I hope to start shooting in this next year,” he said, giving weight to Ramis’ recent comments about a planned 2011 release. Then the bomb dropped. Asked if he would be returning to direct “Ghostbusters III,” Reitman answered with a simple and unequivocal “Yes.” It’s good to see the old gang all getting back together, isn’t it?
Reitman also revealed that a script has recently been turned in and that the team is now busy at work on a new draft. He was also asked about Sigourney Weaver’s spoiler-filled comments from a few months back. He played it cool by neither confirming nor denying what she said.
Ladies and gentlemen, it looks like Ghostbusters 3 will actually happen by 2012!
