20th Century Fox has tapped screenwriter Billy Ray to write the upcoming 24 movie. Ray’s previous credits include State of Play, Volcano, and Suspect Zero. 24: The Movie will take Jack Bauer (Keifer Sutherland) to Europe where some kind of terrorist plot is most likely set to go off in a matter of a couple hours.

24, currently on its eighth season, is a real time espionage show that premiered in late 2001 and became quite popular, bringing a resurgence in Keifer Sutherland’s career. Each season chronicles the events of one day, with each episode depicting an entire hour.

The film adaption is still in the early stages and the future of the television series may impact what happens with it. From what I understand, Fox hasn’t decided to renew the series for its ninth season, which could result in the show runners trying to take 24 to a different network.
