Spielberg Directing War Horse

Setting his sights on The Great War

There aren’t enough WWI films out there. World War II has always been the more interesting war to study. But if you ask me, Hollywood hasn’t turned to The Great War enough. Who better to do so than Steven Spielberg?

According to Variety, Spielberg is directing War Horse, a film about the friendship between a boy and his horse during World War I. War Horse is based off a novel by  Michael Morpurgo.

The film will be written by Lee Hall (Billy Elliot) and Richard Curtis (Notting Hill, Love Actually), while Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall, and Revel Guest will serve as producers.

War Horse is expected to hit theaters August 10, 2011.
