According to IESB, Steven Spielberg is in negotiations to produce the long-awaited big screen adaption of Halo.
“IESB has learned exclusively (believe me this is solid and I’ve confirmed it three times over with studio executives and our close ties to CAA) that one of the biggest producers in Hollywood history is currently in active negotiations to develop the feature film adaptation and no it’s not Jerry Bruckheimer or Peter Jackson. It’s the man behind Jaws, E.T., Indiana Jones and Transformers, Mr. Steven Spielberg.”
He would be taking over for Peter Jackson, who was to produce the project years ago with Neil Blomkamp attached as a director. They’ve since moved on to District 9, leaving the Halo movie in development hell.
The screenplay, entitled Halo: The Fall of the Reach, is being penned by Stuart Beattie, who most recently served on G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. Beattie’s other credits include Collateral, Australia, and 30 Days of Night.
The story has yet to be confirmed.
