Joe Johnston’s remake of the Universal classic, The Wolf Man, has been pushed back to February 12, 2010. This is the third time this year the film has been delayed. It was originally scheduled for February 13, 2009 before getting bumped to April 3rd and November 6th.
No word on the reason for the delay, but it could have something to do with the reshoots that were held back in May. The filmmakers were unhappy with one of the character designs and reshot many of the scenes to accommodate for the changes they’ve made. Also, the filmmakers shot an entirely new action sequence that involves two werewolves and a decent amount of CGI work.
Another possibility is that Universal is trying to allow more time for an extensive advertisement campaign. Other than a few teaser images and the Comic Con footage from 2008, Universal hasn’t really promoted this film and more than likely, the general audience is oblivious to this film’s existence.
The Wolfman stars Benecio del Toro as Lawrence Talbot, a man who becomes cursed after discovering that his brother’s killer is, in fact, a werewolf.
