We all knew it was coming, but what we didn’t know was that it would be so soon. Director Michael Bay has confirmed that he is indeed working on Transformers 3 and is aiming to release it in 2011. He announced that he was meeting with screenwriter Ehrin Kruger (Scream 3, The Ring) and Hasbro to talk about adding new (most likely robotic) characters.

One thing that would appear to be up in the air is whether or not actress Megan Fox will return. Fox previously expressed displeasure with Bay, who went as far to sarcastically lash out at her in his blog post.

P.S. Megan Fox, welcome back. I promise no alien robots will harm you in any way during the production of this motion picture. Whether she returns or not, I wouldn’t be surprised either way. Personally, I don’t think her character is needed. In the first film, she was there pretty much to look good and in the second film, she pretty much became the stereotypical hot, but extremely needy girlfriend.

I know a lot of people didn’t like the first Transformers, but  I personally  enjoyed it. The second film, on the other hand, was a disjointed mess. Hopefully, the third film drops most of the lame junior high grade humor and focusses more on the story. Something tells me that won’t happen!
