Later this year, Film Score Monthly will release a 2 disc album featuring Jerry Goldsmith’s incredible score for Poltergeist. FSM’s founder, Lukas Kendall, dropped the news on label’s forums after word broke out of a possible re-issue coming from Sony.
FSM’s release will include the full score with improved sound and a second disc complete with the LP tracks and alternate cues, while the Sony re-issue will only include the original LP tracks! You can also expect an incredible booklet packed with information.
While this news may not be exciting as some other eventual score releases (can anyone say Gremlins?), many score enthusiasts will be excited to hear that they are correcting the errors made by the previous Rhino release, which is currently out of print. Many consider the sound on the LP to much richer than that on the Rhino album.
On the plus side, those who missed out on the Rhino release and don’t like buying “CDs” from iTunes and Amazon’s MP3 store will have another chance to snatch up this wonderful score.
