The final chapter in a trilogy is often a tough film to get right. Sometimes you get Return of the King, brilliant epic that sends the series off in style; other times, you get Spiderman 3, a convoluted mess that just feels very wrong from the first frame.
On a personal note, before I start this thing, I didn’t go see The Phantom Menace in 3D. While I admit that a part of me is curious if the 3D enhances the Star Wars experience, I probably won’t be inclined to experience it until Star Wars ’77 gets the treatment. According to a recent New York Times article, George Lucas has claimed that he’ll be retiring from the movie business. The statement appeared in the article after Lucas had expressed frustration with Red Tails: a new biopic about the Tuskegee Airmen that couldn’t bait Hollywood studio executives.
